The design of ‘Bent Levels’ is to allow for comfort on different height planes; matching the stairs that lead up to the site, and the layout of Athfield House creeping down the hill. The bench consists of Cor-ten steel, allowing for strength in thin sheets and a rugged outdoor aesthetic. Accoya planks are also used, for a sustainable hardwood seating and steel fittings, for connecting the bench in a more detachable fashion.

The pivoting motion of the bench can allow for a straight bench with three different levels, or a social space when brought into the ‘L’ shape. The placing on the site will give people a good view of the memorial to the North and East, and the harbour to the South and South-West. The durability of the bench will allow for its use for many years and will continue to show its circular design benefits for many more.
