This project is an exploration into the circular design through user-friendly furniture. Simplistic in design, the furniture piece requires no complex systems or connections in the assembly, making it highly user-friendly. The design celebrates materials, combining metal, timber and concrete in one piece, whilst still achieving its primary design objectives for circular design. The “L” shaped design encourages user interactions by forming face to face communication through the arrangement. The primary element, the metal frame, serves both as a structural component for the seats and a table for when users choose to relax.
It is a piece that minimises its effect on the environment by being highly durable, long-lasting and reusable. Although heavy in design, once its intended use is no longer required the piece can be easily dissembled and redistributed to suit the needs of future ventures. This aspect of the design increases its sustainability and allows for it to achieve the primary objective of incorporated circular design principles.
