Initially, the design was focused on a system of interconnected tubes which could be formatted in several different ways to fit the needs of the user. This evolved into a series of folded steel pieces with timber inserts which can be used to connect multiple pieces allowing users to customise the size and use of the item. The system can also be bolted to a wall using only half of the construction. Using either stainless steel, or painted mild steel means all the steel components are easily recyclable. The timber can be replaced as required, or panels of different material such as foam or plastic may be used. As the piece is assembled on-site, transport of individual pieces is easy, and replacement of singular parts is possible without replacing the entire unit.

The bench is designed to be used as a seat facing outwards, a seat and table facing inwards, or a space for a lie-down. As you can sit in any direction on the bench, it can be placed on-site in a way to best take advantage of views to the memorial, ocean, and the tiled backdrop. Users can select how is most comfortable for them to sit on the bench.
