The design of my bench is inspired by the shapes that are seen throughout Ian Athfield’s home and studio, more specifically the triangular shape with soft edges. I have used Accoya timber as the base of my bench this is naturally renewable, being able to be reused and recycled easily. The legs of the bench are made from stainless steel flat bar, as stainless steel can be seen throughput Athfield’s designs and window frames.

The bench can be used as a place of rest for people on their way up to Athfield house. The users can lay down, sit or lean up against the steel frame. The bench is placed within the concrete constraints of the site, looking out over the park and the water below.
